The long awaited successor to the legendary Landcruiser 200 has arrived. After a long wait for a Landcruiser 300 VX, we managed to queue jump into a cancelled order and pick up a 2022 Graphite Sahara. Graphite wasn’t our preferred colour, after having a couple of graphite LC200s, but there is no denying that this is a classy colour.
What better way to improve on one of the best off road touring vehicles available than to chop it in half, stretch it, and add a cavernous canopy to it! Enter the Ultimate Dual Cab.
Starting life as a 2019 Landcruiser 200 GXL, ASG 4×4 in Queensland worked their magic converting this cruiser into a dual cab and extending the chassis by 650mm to form the base of an extremely capable and comfortable tourer.
The ASG 4×4 “MIDI” is the mid-range chassis extension option from ASG 4×4 In Queensland. This 350mm chassis extension offers improved load distribution compared to the standard wheelbase, while not compromising manoeuvrability of the 200 series. With a near identical wheelbase as the 79 series Landcruiser, the Midi offers a viable alternative to the 79 series work ute.
The Landcruiser 200 has long been the choice of vehicle for those touring our great country, and the Ultimate Sahara remains one of our favourite vehicle builds to date.
Straight from the showroom the 200 was fitted with a Lovells GVM upgrade to 3800kg, and a Braked Towing Capacity (BTC) upgrade to 4000kg, giving a GCM of 7800kg and allowing the 200 to do what it loves to do – legally!
The resurrection of the mighty Suzuki Jimny has been a huge success, with these pocket sized 4WDs being loved by many for their go-anywhere ability, retro styling and undeniable sense of fun.
Make no mistake, this is a proper 4WD. Ladder chassis, live axles front and rear, high and low range 4WD. All of these things added up to a prospect that the team at Ultimate 4WD simply couldn’t resist, and after waiting patiently for just short of a year, we got behind the wheel of a grey manual 2020 Jimny.
